We are now getting close to the middle of the Term 4. I have loved seeing the tamariki playing sports and enjoying the environment in their new school tops and DSS hats. We will be doing a final run of these next week, so if you need to order a sports top or hat this will be the last chance this year.
It’s been a few weeks now since our amazing school production “ Atua News”. If you would like access to our school production video, Atua News, please use this link, which will take you to a page where you can view or download it. This is a fantastic opportunity for whānau to revisit the performance and share it with friends and family who couldn’t attend the production. A huge thanks to Josh Hoffman for filming, editing, and creating this wonderful video for our kura. Your mahi is much appreciated Josh, and we’re thrilled to have this keepsake of a memorable event! At the beginning of 2025, Dyer Street School will officially adopt our new MANA values. In this year’s end-of-year report, students will reflect on their growth using the LEARN values. Additionally, at our Senior Prizegiving in December, we will be awarding the LEARN cups for the final time. As a staff, we felt it was important to honour our current school values, which have guided our Year 6 tamariki throughout their journey at DSS, while ensuring the groundwork is in place for a meaningful launch of our new MANA values. This thoughtful transition allows us to acknowledge our school’s legacy as we look forward to the future.
We have received our ERO report from the Ministry, and although it is still in the final stages of confirmation, I believe we can be proud of the positive narrative it reflects about our school. Once the report is officially published, I will share more about our approach to addressing the next steps and improvement priorities identified. These focus areas will be directly integrated into our 2025 strategic plan, ensuring that we build on our strengths while continuously enhancing our practices for the benefit of our students and school community.
Congratulations to our school athletics team for their outstanding performances, attitude, and effort at the Hutt Recreation Ground last Tuesday. It was a fantastic experience for our tamariki, and although some events were challenging, it has inspired many to train and strive for even better results in 2025. Ngā mihi to Kasey Ward for his excellent organisation of the event and to the parents who supported and cheered on our athletes. Your dedication and encouragement make a real difference, and we are proud of everyone who participated and represented our kura.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody
Ngā mihi nui
