Tēna koutou e te whānau,
It has been a busy last couple of weeks at kura but filled with fun activities and opportunities for connection. Next week there are lots of special milestones including graduation and our prizegiving assembly where we will farewell departing staff, students and whānau.
The opening of Te NgaeNgae Pool was a fantastic occasion, and our kura was honoured to be part of such a special event. It was incredible to see our tamariki witnessing this significant milestone, embracing the spirit of community and celebration. Being able to perform the “Te Pa Harakeke” with our Kāhui Ako Schools in Naenae was a real highlight. Ngā mihi nui to our whānau who came to support this event; your presence and patience, even while waiting outside, did not go unnoticed. We know this is an event that our tamariki will remember for a long time.
Next Thursday night, we will have the privilege of farewelling our incredible Year 6 students at their Graduation. This is a special opportunity to reflect on their journey at Dyer Street School and to celebrate the contributions they have made to our kura. We are confident that they are well-equipped with the skills, values, and resilience to thrive as they move on to Intermediate next year. Our final assembly, held next Friday at 11 am, will be another chance for the whole school to honour and celebrate our Year 6 students and their achievements. We warmly invite all whānau to join us for this meaningful occasion.
On Monday, we are excited to hold our Meet the Teacher Morning, where tamariki will have the opportunity to meet their 2025 teacher and class from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. This is an important part of the transition process, helping to create a sense of ease and confidence for both tamariki and their whānau as they head into the holidays. Additionally, End-of-Year Reports will be sent out on Monday, both digitally via email and as a paper copy. These reports provide a summary of your child’s achievement levels and progress for the year. We look forward to this important day and appreciate your support in preparing our tamariki for the year ahead.
Ngā mihi nui,
Lee Ewington
